Thank you again for sharing and for the feedback.

Well, I think it's a fair point to inquire why someone is on here, especially when they just come on here and tell us its not about Islam when the point has been made over and over and over that the indecent behavior by Muslim men described on here is hardly limited to Islam. It's almost like she didn't even much of the blog.

A constant need to defend a relationship shows a lack of security and trust, but that alone if true doesn't mean that Mary's marriage is false. And it's a good sign that she isn't on here constantly talking about her personal life. I really have no reason to doubt that she's been married for 24 years and that her husband isn't a fraud, cheat or pathological liar. It's nice to give benefit of the doubt unless there is a good reason, but coming on here and writing as though one hasn't paid much attention to the nature of our conversations, well, it does beg the question not only presence but interaction---especially sweeping accusations that unnamed posters unfairly target Islam.

You don't have to go too far on here to see that it's not only Muslim men who can be liars, cheats and frauds. In fact, it's what drives a lot of women to seek partners outside their own country, culture and even continent.

And you're quite correct, Isis. Not every situation requires someone to be rescued, and I think there are a lot of shades of gray. Someone who must seek approval from others or brag about their relationship signals to me something is wrong---either with the relationship or internally with said author. In Mary's case, she may have just been frustrated with some of the generalizations that unfortunately are said from time to time.

It could be as simple as that, but I've hesitated to say that because in the past and maybe even now, so many readers seem to be looking for an excuse or some kind of loophole to justify a negative situation they are in. That's something I try to keep in mind for the greater good.

I do appreciate you sharing your point of view with me as to why you are on here as it did help me to understand more of where you are coming from. I do remember that you had mentioned that you and your husband spend some of the year in Egypt and the other in Australia. I hope that arrangement is working out well for you.

I apologize if for some reason you felt that my comments to Mary were indicative of your situation. It was not my intention on here to imply things about you or anyone else in my response to her. I think its best to take things on a case by case basis and to respond directly. And I can understand how being on here can be frustrating from time to time, particularly when generalizations are made about the religion/ethnic origin of the person you are married to. While it may be nice otherwise, if things are allowed to progress naturally on here, there's not going to be very many good relationships discussed on here at length.
