Reader comment on item: Hijabs on Western Public Women

Submitted by Spike (Belgium), Dec 27, 2009 at 09:32

Dear Mr Pipes,

I am an Atheist but when I enter a Church, I remove my hat, when I enter a Synagogue I cover my head. Why should it be different when you enter a mosque? It is (and only is) a question of respect.

I do not like radical Islam but I do not like radical anti-Islam ! This is all extremism.

Daniel Pipes replies:

Respect is one thing, wearing a hijab is another. Also, many of these women wore hijabs outside of mosques, in political situations.
