Reader comment on item: Hijabs on Western Public Women
in response to reader comment: Wearing a hijab?

Let's be clear, women wearing Hijab is in no way a form of male domination in Islam. The male domination is NOT a religious thing, it a man thing, a cultural thing. In Islam, women are closest to God, because they are the vessels in which he creates life. Women are to be protected from harm by unseemly males, because, as we all know, men are pigs.

I don't hear any complaints going on about orthodox Jewish women. They too are required by their beliefs to cover their heads when in the company of men other than brothers, fathers, or husbands. There was never and "edict" in the Catholic church that dismissed women covering their heads at mass. It just happened. This is just one more hateful venture into something you don't understand. How culture and religion mix and it becomes the norm.

I have been to church were women are wearing clothing suitable for the beach not church. No modesty ...no humility before God. Men too are lax in their attire. Here are a few facts for you: The majority of Islamic law is based on Jewish law.: If the laws are followed, and not the culture of men, women are put above all else except God.: Islamic women were the first to be given equal rights to vote, work, and inheirit the property of their husbands and fathers. It was the men that changed it.

Women IN SOME CULTURES are separated from the men for safety purposes. It is also that way in most Jewish socities. Mohammed didn't make up Allah and call him God. He is the Same GOD as the Jews and Christians. The Quran is a retelling...story for story...of the Bible...Both new and old testaments. And let's not forget ...that on judgement day, it is Jesus who will come to judge us all. Yes, even the Muslims believe that. Given all that, and all the rest of the hate, I guess many of us fail the test of tolerance. We bomb them, they bomb, us and so on, and so on, and so on, We are are supposed to be a nation of "love". Of acceptance, I am becoming more aware that it only applies to people who think like us, look like us, and only if you are a Christian.

Yeah, I'm sure that's what Jesus meant by "love your neighbor as I have loved you. " I suggest you all take a long hard look at yourselves and the world you live in. Are you really a good Christian? Is the united states really the great place me make it out to be? It can be so much better if the hatetred stopped. So much better if the understanding would take place.

Yes i am fully aware of 9/11. A heartbreaking day to say the least. But come on. Enough already. Let's take some time to find out why. What provoked the incident, and what we can do, other than destroying a whole people for the horror brought on by a few, to make the world right again. For us ....for all.
