Reader comment on item: Hijabs on Western Public Women

Submitted by Respectful American (United States), Mar 27, 2008 at 18:10

In the beginning, America prevailed as an instrument of respectful public spirit toward all of mankind. If not mistaken it is customary to wear such articles of clothing while in host nations or nations of certain practices. Therefore, those kinds of garments are worn by guests out of respect. While in their kingdom(s) those are the customs. Symbols, greetings, gestures, addressing heads of nations are some of the important factors of politeness to utilize when visiting foreign lands. Americans abroad have always been known to be accomodating and polite. Despite what others may do to us, we as Americans must remain steadfast in regard to impeccable character. Thomas Jefferson is known to have said, "Peace & friendship with all mankind is our wisest policy, and I wish we may be permitted to pursue it".
