Hijab....Nothing wrong with modesty...with a big BUT!

Modesty in language and dress is the accepted mode of behavior in many cultures and religions; Orthodox Judaism and Islam, to name two.I don't see any problem with High Profile Western Women covering their heads in order to respect religious values of others.I think the sticking point with Hijabs is that in many Islamic countries....it is an absolute requirement for women to wear them. In fact, failure to wear them can lead to arrest and/or worse consequences.

While I am all for modesty in dress and action, I believe it's barbaric to impose such harsh punishment on people who don't conform. There are other less radical sanctions that could be imposed. Religious freedom of choice is the sign of an advanced egalitarian society...unfortunately, most Islamic States don't recognize this view.
