Hi Laura, I've been with an iraqi man for 4 years now and there are no inital signs of them wanting to convert you to their religion. I believe the religion calls for a choice in the matter, namely yours. It really depends on which country your man has originated from, as each country is individual in its culture. If he is muslim, I would almost bet that he would want his children raised as muslims, again depending on the man and his country/culture of birth. I really don't want to judge someone that I've never actually met and providing advice like this to someone I've also never met, is a little disconcerting. You pretty much outlined your objections to certain areas of Islam and you're fully entitled to that.

Just out of curiousity, you mentioned that you've had several interracial relationships in the past and each was quite positive. I have often asked myself what actually drives me into relationships with men from another culture than my own. I don't have the answer as yet. I can only surmise that it has to do with my empathic nature that often seeks to discover the truth within each culture. The thing is there will always be negative and postive things that I discover. The truth for me, and possibly for you, is working out what I'm comfortable to compromise. Yours will be different from mine.
