AVCR touched upon a very important phenomenon

Dear Dr Pipes, your very concerned reader (AVCR) said about muslims: If he prays, even not very often, becomes more religious in Ramadan and doesn't eat pork products, rest assure he is Muslim, always will be. AVCR is very correct and in saying this, AVCR touched upon a phenomenon that I call MINOB. It stands for Muslims in Name Only But.

You see, there is no core basis of objective ethics in Islam. There is no rule of conduct that Muslims are not allowed if there is a need to protect Islam, Muhammad, or Allah. Thus, Islam gives people a lot of power to behave badly if the circumstances so demand. Almost all human vices are present among Muslims in as much quantity as proportions dictate or even more (examples: liquor consumption in Pakistan, opium production in Afghanistan, mistreatment of women in the entire Islamic world, role of Muslims in the underworld in Mumbai, India etc). Islam not only does not prevent Muslims from becoming bad but, in reality, by allowing a subservient system of ethics, it allows them to turn rogue if circumstances so demand. Usually minority groups are law abiding citizens in various societies. But Islamic minorities are a nuissance in many places in the world (perhaps because surrendering to a non-Muslim authority is an affront to Allah).
So Muslims violate all principles of ethics and become MINOBs.

They are Muslims in Name Only. They behave like cry babies, demand more and more rights for less and less responsibility. Fool around. Forget about avoiding out of marriage sex, they are almost always after non-Muslim lovers to advance the cause of Islam. The list can go on and on.

But there is a B part in MINOB. B is for But. These same Muslims who skirt the laws of ethics, all day long become ardent followers of Islam for political and land-grabbing purposes. They would create never ending wars (as in the, so called, Palestine). Will pray on loudspeakers all day long. Will not carry dogs or wine in their cabs. Will not adapt to local languages and custums.

Thus is described the "Muslim in Name Only But" phenomenon: Islam can be ignored for all purposes but political.
