Reader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men
in response to reader comment: They use love

This is precisely what happened with me. I wouldn't say that I was codependent, as I had lived alone for many years and had no interest in getting involved with anyone. It just "happened." It's very easy to get sucked in by these men if you don't know any better. Luckily, I figured things out in time to keep him from immigrating to the U.S., and also without too much financial damage (though, there was that, in addition to emotional damage). Both are reparable, and I am in a better place than I was before the relation-shit. Not that I would want to go through it again, but I'm glad it happened thanks to the outcome. In the end, it was beneficial for me.
