I'm sure he did have some kind of feelings for you - it's typical for immature men to claim they "just wanted sex." But the fact is he is too much of a coward to go against his culture, and again you have made a lucky escape. Being married to these men is hard work, and to go from girlfriend/hookup to potential wife means a 180 degree, Jekyll and Hyde turn from the man's side. The fun and games end, and your life would be in his hands, meaning no more independence. The family usually resents you unless you're bringing them cash or gifts. It would not be the same as when you were dating. He will probably cheat on his wife, too. But she will be there defending him, as she will likely be ignorant or perhaps not even bothered. Wish there was a hand gel to protect us from these types of men!
