Dear Dr Pipes, your reader Jessica did something that needs to be done over and over again. She pointed out that Islamic treatment of women is not respectful and she cited examples. Islam is running an ethnocentric, righteous and self-serving empire since its inception. Some of us try to hide this fact behind apologies, denial and euphemisms but to the others the truth is starker than anything else. And we need to expose these facts till they cease to exist.

No one should assume that I am any less forginving to other religions. But most religions of the world other than Islam have now developed self-correcting mechanisms that lead to reform. Islam knows how to destroy or silence these mechanisms.
