He also brought friends and family into the equation, so if I saw any red flags, I was more apt to disregard them. I will never know who knew what, or whether he them fooled as well. He was extremely secretive with everyone about everything. The hardest thing for me is the realization that it was all an act, a scam, and I will never know how involved his friends and family were. I don't appreciate the attitude that we Western women are fair game, and deserve what they do to us, when we have only treated them with love and compassion. It makes me very upset that so many of them do this, have done it for years, and will continue to do so. It is heartbreaking.
