He is 28 you are 41.
For them even 1 year of difference it matter.

They grew up thinking that a woman over 25 not marry yet is a desperate and a woman over 30 is old.
It's their mentality.

Tell him that you found out the scam and after go no contact.
Take some holidays if you can and go somewhere far.

Think about all the doubts that you have about him and realize that that are not unfounded doubts.
