Very interesting situationReader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men Submitted by XConvert (United States), Oct 3, 2019 at 20:55 This is interesting, an ex-Muslim. I'm not sure how many stories there have been about such on here, but depending on where he is, simply stating atheism can put his life in danger. I question if he truly is an ex-Muslim or if he's hoping that card can be used to leave his home country. Has he told you anything about whether or not his family knows? Has he said anything blasphemous that supports him being an ex-Muslim? I would quiz him and ask him what exactly made him leave Islam and why, like concubines / treatment of women / etc. Even better would be if you could get him to say something unlikable about the prophet. How long has he been an ex-muslim? Morals don't reappear when they become ex-Muslim. If he is truly a secular / humanist / ex-Muslim, it will show. Of course he will retain certain ways of thinking because of his culture, but becoming an ex-Muslim means a radical awakening of mind. I have read articles about Muslims faking apostasy in order to get asylum in western countries. I think you know the answer to all of your doubts, but because you're not familiar with these kinds of guys you're second guessing yourself. No one likes to be judgmental of someone in a bad situation, but in this case I wouldn't doubt he's lying about his apostasy in order to leave his country. Leaving Islam is not an overnight process. It took me a few years of mental gymnastics to leave. Leaving Islam is like leaving the mafia. With someone like this, I would be asking a lot of questions to test his sincerity in leaving. Listening to metal has nothing to do with being ex-Muslim. There's different opinions on everything in Islam, music being one of them.
