To Arisa and Robin in regards the Islamic marriage

Dear Arisa,

I'm really sorry to hear about your medical condition. I really hope you heal soon, my darling, I can understand perfectly why you have vindictive feelings. But now, please, focus on healing and on getting your divorce.

I will explain in here what nikah is about because I feel that many of you are confused about it. Nikah is not exactly a ceremony like our weddings at the church. They can be lead by an imam or not as it consists only in the signature of a contract from both groom and bride. Groom and bride have to sign it in separately rooms or not in present of the other so no one is forcing the other to accept the contract. The marriage can be done at any place, mosque, celebration venue or even at home. Before you sign, you must agree 3 times on marrying that person. If the bride was not muslim previously to the marriage, she is asked to recite the Shahada, which is the declaration of the Islamic faith.

Does anything of what I'm saying make sense to you in regards to what you did? If not, then you did the civil marriage contract only as you say you did it in a civil office. This contract then is legal at all effects and you have also registered your marriage in Japan. And by the way, very suspicious that he didn't do the religious marriage being a Muslim. Without the nikah contract, he was certainly sinning.

Find a good lawyer in your country who has knowledge in Egyptian laws and pay whatever you need to pay to get rid of this marriage without stepping one foot in Egypt. You ca file your divorce wherever you are but you need a good lawyer to kick off the process.

And do not worry, I believe in karma. He will pay for what he has done to you if the law cannot reach him. But now focus on your healing process.
