Abuse all over the World

Islam isn't to blame for men abusing women. Men are to blame. And most of them will tell you it's wrong. I'm in no way defending Islam btw. But abusive men do happen all over the world. And while we Westerners can call ourselves progressive because our police, in most areas, protect victims... this hasn't always been the case and still needs improvement. Smaller town police are less likely to help women being abused, and if the man is a policeman, politician, or big businessman, forget getting much real help. There are still religious sects in the US that support many behaviors that Islam does. And up until a few years ago it was legal in the US and I'm sure Europe for a man to discipline his wife. Our generation has seen so many changes and more will come. I have a very good friend who is Thai and said many of these same atrocities happen in Thailand and other Asian cultures that are not Islamic or Christian. We must remember different cultures have different lifestyles, values, and laws. And no country wants outsiders coming in trying to change things. Because it could end up backfiring. The people themselves have to stand up and say enough is enough. Spousal rape is very new, it wasn't even a thing a few years ago. So we shouldn't think we are so advanced because we now call something rape and other countries consider it wifely duties. As people travel and move about more into the Middle East, Asia, Eurasia, and Africa, we'll see progress made. We like to focus on ME and NA, and forget the atrocities still being committed in other countries, like bride kidnapping in Kyrgyzstan and child marriage in India! Some countries are very strict, particularly Islamic countries, while Western countries are far too liberal, so both could and should learn from each other. Alot of what wrong in the world would be corrected if we women would stop basing our self worth on what men think. Then you wouldn't have girls overeating to gain weight to find a husband in one part of the world, while girls in another part are starving themselves so they can fit a size 0-2 and walk a catwalk. Men abuse us because we sadly allow it and accept it.
