in response to reader comment: Abusive men are alike in all cultures

Dear Dr Pipes, Your reader Mile said that abusive men are in every culture. But it is only in Islam that abusive men have doctrinal support from religious establishment that refuses to change. Yes, when you see an Islamic man abusing his wife, you should surely explore the 'abusive men are in every culture' angle. But, then, you should not ignore the angle that in Islam abusive men have institutionalized support: even the biggest defender of Islam says that Islam protects women's right while we all know that women's rights in Islam are not equal to men's rights. That is called institutional support! Islam has to enter 21st century.
