I know it's hard ...Reader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men Submitted by Robin (United States), Jun 10, 2019 at 13:59 Didi, I am so sorry you are having to go through this. He may be sincere, but because of everything that's happened, you can't trust him, no matter what he says. I'm sure my husband was sincere in the moment when he married me, but after reality set in, and there were delays in him getting a visa to the U.S., he moved on to other women while still playing me along. He wanted to have his cake and eat it too, so to speak. Their culture and religion put a great deal of pressure on them, and you would always be subject to the opinions of his family, no matter what he claims. I wish I had known half the things I do now before I married my husband. I know you really love him, but that doesn't mean he or the situation is good for you. I am dealing with my own heartbreak now, and the pain is excruciating. I miss my husband very much, but I know he will never love me the way I love him, if he even loves me at all. He lies and cheats, and obviously doesn't take our marriage seriously. It's sad that these men are like this, but it's all a result of their upbringing and ingrained in their personalities. Please keep us informed as to how you are doing, and please return to the United States. If he really wants to be with you, he will find a way. Don't make it easy for him. Take care of yourself and your little one. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
