His parents

I know I said I wouldn't advise anymore on this ridiculous situation, but I can bet you his parents aren't dead. My Kurdish ex told me exactly the same thing, then I caught him one day messaging his mother... LOL.

In their defence though, it's more about their culture and that they can't bring shame to the family by marrying someone not approved of.
