Joint accounts vs notReader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men Submitted by Jordana Ghannam-Ahmed, Jun 24, 2018 at 16:50 It's an Islamic thing btw the wife being able to keep her money separate; my husband pushes for me to have all the independence and separation of finances that I want however as I do all the finance and money handling and decision making I personally prefer to have everything joint. We have our accounts in the USA and in Egypt that way but I do have an investment account in Israel thru the ministry of finance that legally cannot be joint, it has to belomg to an individual which is in my sole name. My husband's income pays for all of our expenses, like our cell phones and building our new home in Minneapolis, etc. and savings and my money goes towards day to day things for myself and the kids, treats, shopping etc. (I only recently returned to my job after having our 4th child) And savings. It's different in every marriage and I feel pretty straongly the way we do it works best for us, but other people do what worka best for them I suppose. One thing is for certain, he'd never permit me to shoulder the load or ask me for money or allow me to pay when we are out as a family. I only pay for things when I am in the cities with the kids by myself and he is working in Cairo and such. And of course he transfers us money periodically as a matter of course as he makes significantly more than my $37k a year lol. Submitting....
