On the subject of DOWRY

I don't see this discussed very often but in Islam the man is to pay a dowry for his wife. This is usually presented in the form of being able to provide a house, gifts, furnishments... But in some cases it is given in the form of money.

My husband provided a lump sum, as well as the ring and our townhouse. But it really depends on the circumstance and level if income.

So ask yourself this. If your man is a Muslim, why would he be asking you for money? For a Muslim he should be able to take care and prove that he can provide before even really considering taking a wife. So, if he is asking you for money at all, this is a huge red flag.

I would joke back and say "How are you going to pay my marriage dowry if I keep having to give you money" and see what he says. It will show you have done some research of marriage is Islam.
