Two Murders and how Islam thrives

Dear Dr Pipes, as the holiest month of Islam was approaching its end two dissenting voices in Islam in two different countries were silenced by murder (ref A, B). Shahjahan Bacchu and Sujaat Bukhari a Bangladeshi secularist and a Kashmiri newspaper editor were murdered for their pro-peace stances.

When we look at Islam as the fastest growing religion of the world, we should never for a minute forget that Islamic societies do not just discriminate against non-Muslims, they most brutally destroy any dissidence by any Muslims. These two murders are indicative of that pattern. Islamic intelligentsia must be held accountable when Muslims kill others for their opinions.

Islam needs to become democratic as soon as possible.
