Sheila,I agree with you on too much drama- for someone we may never be able to see in person(luck of money,other stuff going on...).Anyone behind the screen can say anything and be just anybody,because it is easier to do so virtually than in reality.Nice words are only words...not actions.

I am glad that you found someone from same culture as yours,hope it will work out well,
as you are taking it slowly,letting him prove himself to you and earn your trust first,before letting your heart falling for him.

I am at this point of when my bad situation was a good indicator for people I counted as 'friends",and taught me a few things about how I see my life now,and things I did not know about myself.
True friend will help you if you are in dire need,fake one-will say he/she has her own things to take care first...
The older i get- the smaller the circle of my true friends becomes.
I learned to not to let just anybody to be near me,but only those whom I can trust.
I am not going to waste my time and effort for fake relationship or empty promises.
I am not looking for any validation from anyone,nor giving it to anyone.
I can only compare myself as I am today to myself as I was before(not to someone else,as everyone is different),and grow as a person,by learning life lessons well.(Be yourself,everyone else is taken")
I never saw myself superior to anyone,but have to set my boundaries and stand by them,no matter what.
I also have my priorities-my family above all,and it feels great to be free with my choices of what is right for me.
No one can take your happiness away,because no one gave it to you-as it is inside of you!
