Hypocrisy

This doesn't surprise me at all, Sherry... it is quite sickening to see. I also saw these men last time I was there (they hang around the Nile area) and put it this way they obviously weren't there to see the pyramids... in Morocco it's worse still. It's quite sad to see how they're more than happy to sexually exploit the poverty of these countries, but seem to turn the other cheek when it comes to conflict. It's all about saving face.

All this while their wives are shopping in Harrods.

But don't get me wrong, there are many decent Muslim men that aren't into any of that and disagree with it... but by and large it's a man's religion with some perks for women as well... it's almost like a sugar daddy scenario... the woman is taken care of and in return the man reaps the benefits. There are essentially two roles for women, you're either mother or concubine - and a lot of the time it's hard to tell which of the two boxes you tick, because the men can be very misleading (putting it mildly). Concubines have a short shelf life... many Saudi men will even marry girls for a night.

Which leads onto another topic, is it possible to be Muslim and feminist at the same time. In my view it's pretty much an oxymoron, not because all Muslim men are evil and hate women, but because of all the inequalities. To be a full blown feminist means to believe men and women deserve equal rights .... so this would mean women would also be able to have four husbands, and be cast away for disobedience as they are. A lot of women are in denial but at the end of the day it's just facts.
