Ladies, your responsibility goes much beyond than you know

All the women who worry about marrying Muslim men should realize that as responsible citizens of the world our responsibility goes much beyond just marrying someone and establishing a family. If you are a non-Muslim, it is very likely that you are living in a democratic country that has a reasonable degree of separation of church and state. You have probably been taught to respect individual freedoms and you have also been taught not to make religion such a big deal that it becomes a barrier between you and your neighbor. More likely than not, you have benefited from these values.

So it becomes your responsibility to protect these values and advance them. Islam's relationship with democracy is, at best, tenuous. There is no Muslim-majority country that respects separation of church and state (perhaps, Malaysia and Indonesia are two exceptions). And, Islamic marriages by their design do not give much choice to the non-Muslim partner to continue to remain what the are and become what they want to be. There is some virtue in marrying a Muslim if you can inculcate some of these good values in them but the opportunity for exchange ideas is limited under the strict interpretation of Islam.

So, people, you need to think about these issues deep when you consider marriage to a Muslim. Until a stage comes when popular accepted version of Islam officially drops the condition of conversion to Islam and mandatory raising of children of the marriage as Muslims as a preconditions of marriage, Islamic marriage will definitely be an unequal proposition.

Whether your Muslim partner wants a green card or wants your money should not be the biggest worry for you in this proposition.
