Hanna, be wary....

It has less to do with him being a Muslim than the chances of him being a scammer.

Is there a possibility that he is sending out these signals to other girls too? And not only you but several others are sensing he likes each and every one of them? Scammers are very smooth. Mine was giving at least 4 others the same impression he was in love with them and wanted a future with them.

No one can or should discourage you from falling in love with anyone. Just be wary. When he starts to tell you sob stories to arouse your sympathy - they hardly ask for money directly at the beginning, this comes later when they become totally shameless - and you feel like you want to help him by sending him money, that is when the alarm bells should start to ring in your head. Sometimes it's not just money that they want, they may ask for things they say they can't get in their country, which they would like so much to have, and sometimes it's about wanting to meet you (either in their country) or elsewhere (they all want to have a vacation elsewhere) but you may eventually have to pay for their air-ticket because they have lost their job, their moms or whoever have fallen ill and need medical treatment etc.). Other scams (also very popular among Thai girls) is claiming their phones or laptops being broken, so they can't contact you and they miss chatting with you... and before long, victims are sending them money just to stay in contact with them. And yes, accidents!!! Someone they know, or themselves seem to be having or causing accidents and they need money for medical treatment. They will even go to the extreme of sending photos of the vehicles involved in the accident...

"he's not ready for a serious relationship" - should be enough of a red flag, Hanna. He's not telling you he likes you because he is waiting for you to do that first. So he's sure where he stands with you and how far he can go.

When you find you need to spend money on him to to be with him or to help get him to your country - RUN!

In retrospect, my rat didn't really start to scam me until he was very sure i had fallen too deeply for him to get out. And then the horror began...
