Hi Lisa,

I would like to correct my inaccuracy, before everyone else does it, lol. I don't find Morocco being a particularly lawful nor tourist friendly place. I do not believe their authorities will do anything to help you formalize ownership under your name. But you just might get away with some alternative solutions. In case of police intervention, they are likely to take your side. If you could manage to throw "your man" in jail for just one night, you might be able to recover at least some of the things you paid for. Your receipts will work in this kind of scenario. I'm not advising you to engage into physical argument with this man, but from what I hear, you still have one foot in the door and that gives you some options.

If you decide not to fight him on his ground (understandably), you might want to try a third party negotiator. Lawyer or not, Moroccans won't know the difference.

It just makes me angry to see your loss. I planned a similar operation, but the property I was looking at was lost due to fire. Event though I planned to run it by myself, I was still advised against it by my better informed friends. I can very well imagine being in your shoes now... They play by street rules, and it's not a game for everyone.
