To Karen MENA and Algerian wine

Hi Karen,
I am LMAO. You are spot on about everything You say about MENA and Algerians. I encountered Your story about Your stay in the Tlemsenian area in Algeria and it was so well written, funny and true. It is now no longer seen on the first page and this is why I reply here and hope You see it. Algeria was once the world's biggest wine producer. Algerian wines are very nice indeed. There are dry and sweet varieties. The mountainous Atlas coast with extremely hot summer temperatures makes the area one of the most suitable for wine in this world. The industry is now growing by 10% a year. Now the surprise maybe - Algeria is the 11th biggest wine consumer worldwide. Yes, hard to believe but true. Many Algerians drink and they have drunkards as well. Most bars in my area near Defense in Paris are run by Kabyles - Algerian berbers. They are very nice people and integrate well. Hardworking, loyal to the Republic and its values and not very religious although very attached to their culture. They serve wine on their weddings and parties.

Yes, village life is quite hard on women. Especially lack of sanitation and running water. They start the day at 5 to 6 in the morning and sometimes earlier if it is the olive season. Afternoons are for siesta. The good part is they don't pollute the earth as much as we do. Anyhow. Thank You for the input and hope to read You again.
