What I think ......

Reader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men
in response to reader comment: I've noticed I'm starting to get a lot of dislikes

Hi Marissa, Some of my comments get more dislikes than likes as well and I only checked when somebody mentioned it. After all, not many people go to read and reread their own posts and check how many likes and dislikes they had. Out of curiosity I checked some of Your posts and mine as well in order to compare notes. This is what I think :

1) The 8 or 9 dislikes did not come from only one person. One can only vote once unless the votes come from different appliances. But who will open the same post from their tablet PC, phone, home PC, work PC, kids phones etc, etc?
2) One single person does not have the time and ressources to flag down multiple comments from multiple appliances.
3) Of course it is possible to erase cookies and history and vote again but that will have to be done after every round of thumbing down posts.

I noticed very valuable and informative replies as well as short 5-15 words replies get few likes and medium lenght posts or replies get the most. Maybe people do not think a short nonsense post is worth the trouble to thumb up or down. With the very long replies - by the time one finishes reading he forgets to flag up or down. Also, posts that contain negative info about violence, mistreatment and abuse may get flagged down because the reader does not approve of certain behaviour and not because he does not like the post. Crude and not polite language and insults (like I sometimes use lol) get the thumbs down? I notice this with my posts. Bear in mind foreign men also read here although few dare to post. They must feel concerned or even offended, especially if their country, culture, religion, living conditions are discussed and mocked. I even got a reply from a man from Pakistan here. I did not reply to him as he did not ask questions but he was not very happy to read what I wrote about third world countries and marriage seekers. I'll have to dig it out but I LOL when I read it and wanted to reply but didn't. FYI his post got dislikes only and about 5 or 6 and I disliked it too on purpose. This is one of my replies that got 4 thumbs up and twice as many, eight at this moment:

I had to reread and in all honesty I don't see anything wrong, offensive or untrue. But some people disliked it. I also clicked on few of Your posts and the content and language seem fine to me. Obviously somebody else thought different or flagged down by mistake. Have a nice weekend , Marissa, and let's enjoy life.
