Karen, I loved this comment for so many reasons. You shot from the hip and it was funny. I can see the healing of hearts on the board because the humour has been surfacing.

The graphic description of your Algerian experience had me smiling. Was his name Mohammed by any chance? ...just kidding. ;)

The rum, now there is a great idea. Hahah!
Do you know that in 1960, Algeria was the largest exporter of wine...twice as much as France, Italy and Spain combined?

It's amazing that good, delicious meals come out of people who live in such conditions. I equate food preparation to art and creativity and poverty brings that out. That's probably the only positive side to being poor.

I'll end with this quote I read today :
