Yes ,like all cheats,Indian people too cheat and especially financially.However,I will not generalize since there are more I have known to be honest and happily married to their wives--Indian or otherwise.

I did read the comment ,you referred to,of a lady who was cheated badly by an Indian man.There are a few issues that I noticed.---

(1)Her name Sree Divya appears typically Indian and from what I gathered is from the Southern Indian States.YET she terms herself BEING THE ONLY WHITE FEMALE IN HIS FRIENDS' LIST.Unless,she meant relatively fair as compared with Indians.
(2)She has also mentioned that,this man talked to her in the Indian national language-Hindi.She also mentions many other Indian State languages spoken in the twin city of Bombay --Navi Mumbai
(3) She has /had evidence of her interaction BUT she never used the same to get him into trouble for scamming her.She ,while in the U.S. could have approached the Indian Embassy and followed through.I know for sure that the External Affairs Ministry in India is very diligent about such people and offer all help.My friend had a problem at the airport there and he tweeted the External Affairs Minister and within half an hour there was a reply tweet asking where does he have the problem ( the exact issue)and there was a major upheaval since the director of the airport personally met him soon after to resolve the same and this issue was just a small one.Not something crucial for his survival,just rudeness on the part of an officer.
(4) Instead,she chose to present it to his sister,who she claims,threatened her.The problem remained unresolved.
(5) This lady also claims to know where he is( in the hostel) located.Yet,she never tries to name and shame him.This way he wouldn't have the courage to repeat his "performance'.

(6) Luckily,she never parted with money.So a second assault was thwarted.

I sometimes feel that instead of writing in this forum ,which IS helpful for support and compassionate hearing, they should do what I suggested.Get the real name( now yet another issue--is this bloke going to use his name--Dinesh again with any other woman?) and passport number and get the credentials authenticated in a very stealthy manner from the Indian embassy or any other nations embassy.This way one can get the man in difficulty rather than getting oneself into difficulty.It's possible to extract this much--especially when one is thinking about a serious relationship.

Although I won't completely dismiss her account,the issues pointed out here are worth considering,without exonerating that man -of course.
