The last time I visited Egypt was over 5 years ago so I'm not sure about the current level of safety. However you should note that unmarried females are strictly forbidden from staying with men they're not related to - that's not to say it doesn't happen, it does indeed happen all over the country but ask yourself if it's a good idea. You've never met this man before and I would give the same advice to anyone meeting a man in their own country.

Most of us will tell you not to go, that doesn't guarantee that you'll listen to us, so if you do then at least stay in a hotel and have some concern for your safety.

Now if your daughter sees him as a friend that's fine. But understand that for things to go any further you're potentially putting your daughter in a dangerous situation. Most of the Egyptian men online are looking for two things: money/green card or sex. And while they're at it why not get her to convert to Islam at the same time... win/win! What does this man have to offer your daughter if he can't even travel to see her...?

Canada is a highly desirable destination for these people. I'm sure his ultimate goal is to be able to live there.
