Dear Dr Pipes, your reader PPP wants to know what should she do after she made an Algerian long-distance boyfriend over the Internet. I would say "run". Just "run" as fast as you can.

Want to know a reason? Here is one. Islam advocates modesty. I am not saying it. It is based on their own assertion. A big majority of the Islamic society recommends that women wear Hijab or even burkha or naqab. So why would a Muslim fellow, on the one hand, defend Hijabs for Muslim women but on the other chat with an American woman who, very likely, is not that interested in that kind of modesty. He is either not true to the principles of his religion or he flexes them for his convenience. You say that he is a devout Muslim. I think it is haram for a devout Muslim to chat with far away women. In your kind of situations someone will be severely punished if you were in, say, Iran.

So why take a chance. Run PPP run. And don't look behind.
