Bear in mind that a considerable amount of these men are not necessarily bad or evil... many of them are just desperate. There's hardly any work or opportunities in these countries unless you're well connected, so most rely on their families living abroad to send money over for rent and other utilities, or they may get involved in criminal activity like drugs or forging documents. Therefore it's understandable that their ultimate goal is to make it to somewhere like the US or Canada, where they can make money either through work or welfare.

I have no doubt that he is one of these guys; but I also have no doubt that there's something in it for you - the attention and ego boost of a much younger man. These men know it and that's why white marriages, or mariages blancs, take place. It's much like the older man younger woman deal. You scratch my back, I scratch yours.

As for your friend, the worst thing that could happen - aside from being fleeced - is that she develops feeling for a man that's simply desperate to get out of his country and will do anything to achieve that, and ultimately leaves her when he gets what he wants, or if she can't provide that. The "you scratch my back" method is all well and good until someone catches feelings, and someone usually does.

So it's all down to you. What do you really want/expect from this "relationship" with a muslim man that's 30 years younger than you? Are you looking for a fling or are you looking for something serious, because I can't see the latter ever happening.
