Dear Karen,

Like you I have responded to Melissa,and wonder whether it's inappropriate for me to write to you.

You have mentioned only one possibility--exploitation and betrayal.I stumbled upon a very sad case( I think her letter was on this blog in 2009) of a lady who was totally confused about what she should do with a man's proposition,despite the man being married.She did not realize that though there are Muslims who take only one wife,there are yet some parochial ones who can marry 4 times and have innumerable mistresses.That is worse.The official /legal wives might humiliate and even try to murder such women.

I wonder why the ladies fall for such guys,instead of rejecting them outright.
