Non-muslim Egyptians are just as bad

I am Australian and fell in love with an Egyptian man who had grown up coptic but is now an athiest. I thought I was safe because he was not religious. He was the MOST romantic man I have ever met. Oh my lord, the words that came out of that snakes mouth. After a while every 'mistake' I made resulted in verbal abuse 'wh***", "sl**' and white trash etc. He would break up with me for things that he 'thought were real but were not'. He would accuse me of looking at men or women or he would say men and women were looking at me. He told me what I could wear, he wanted me to get rid of any male friends even if I had grown up with them since pre-school. I went to co-educational schools in a very free country and I have worked and studied, so I have quite a few male friends. I would invite him to come along but he refused even that so I started avoiding my male friends. He would flirt with females in front of me - even asked me best girl friend to stay in his apartment when I wouldn't be there! The control was insane.

His cousin spoke to me one day and he beat up his cousin. One day he saw me talking to a man and he beat me up. I left and never went back. He was a very, very wealthy Egyptian man who spoiled me in between being incredibly abusive. He is also a cocaine addict and borderline alcoholic. He tried to get me addicted to drugs, as well. Egyptian men, even non religious ones are controlling, insane and abusive. The girl before me tried to commit suicide and so did his ex wife. How can someone who cries about how much he loves you and is so romantic about the notion of love and togetherness, treat the person he supposedly loves so abusively? I am going to the police next week to have him charged with assault. He deserves that and more.
