I think you already know in your gut the answer to your question but I'm gonna tell u point blank.

Yes he's bull-- g you he's using you- even if he may ALSO have feeling for u, that is only incidental, and clearly it's not rooted in respect. I am a middle eastern woman raised primarily in the Midwest USA but most of my family is from back home (West Bank of Palestine and the Damascus Syria area) I am Muslim, and my husband is Egyptian. Because my family did not seek refuge in the states until 1984, and my husband lived in Egypt his entire life until after our children were born and we still have a home there

I can tell u that this phenomena is something of a national embarrassment to the Normal men of integrity in Egypt, and they make no secret of exactly what these men are up to. Even as normal Egyptians, there are areas of town and businesses that ar never frequented Bc it is in essence a tourist "trap" staffed by men of this class who will scam and finagle money and favors from men and women alike, but play off of the tendencies of western women to appreciate their dark and handsome looks and to appreciate and easily be swooned by their syrupy compliments.

I can tell u as well, these men will not accept financial aid from a woman, even if it's life and death especially not a women they barely know and that they have set their sights on romantically. They would ask every male family member friend, neighbor or beg in the streets if they had to to obtain the financial aid needed. Often thy will borrow the money to pay the dowry or to provide for a female they intend to marry or at courting if their financial situation is poor or they are going thru an economic low point (as many Men in North Africa and the Middle East are right now although no fault of their own in majority of cases) they know that to reveal their financial inabilities is the highest source of shame and will result in an almost Bettina rejection by any woman good enough to be their wife.

Ur best bet is to walk away now on ur terms with ur head held high and seek love when it comes to u, regardless of the ethnicity of the man-there are good and bad in all cultures but be advised that inter cultural relationships at hard at best and require much sensitivity and acceptance by both parties, something many MENA men are hesitant to provide. I obviously married an amazing man who is Egyptian BUT I would have to say out of all of our married friends only one is mixed (an Ehyptian man married to an American woman at our masjid, whose children attend Islamic school with ours-she is a physician and he works for a medical tech equipment corporation so they met under very normal and random circumstances i don't know of any long distance internet love couples that have been successful (to be fair I don't personally know any at all though)
