What I heard through the grapevine

Graciela,

You provided very little detail, so my answer will be broad. I know three Jordanian guys who work in my neighborhood. I've been talking to them almost every day for the past ten years. They seem like caring fathers and faithful husbands (all married to Jordanians), always respectful and friendly to everyone, known for being generous to poor folks living on my street. I see them starve through Ramadan, which tells me they don't cut corners when it comes to Islam. I find their religious commitment respectable but rather impossible to keep up with for any non-Muslim born woman. What I find alarming is that all three of them told me independently they will not go back to Jordan until the political situation changes. One of them just relocated his entire family to US because he feared for their future in Jordan. Perhaps this is also the reason for your man to leave his work in Dubai. It's a stormy region in every aspect. Secondly, I have a hard time finding jealousy endearing. I suppose every adult man should be able to control his emotions, otherwise there is no telling to what extend he can lose it. It usually gets worse when their reputation amongst family members and other Muslims comes to play. You can learn a lot from meeting his parents. If their act is animated you would know. I could mop floors with my guy at first, he completely overdid it. So in my book - red flag there.
