Good question; I would not have thought of this myself. And I am too curious because the fact of the matter is, we have operated ou household from 2 continents for a number of years, all income gained lawfully, and being expended lawfully on normal expenses, yet one thing we cannot overcome is the inability to transfer any significant amount of hard currency out of Egypt into our USA bank accounts (And we are dual nationals!! Transferring within the same banking institution!! Just internationally is all) it is a veritable impossibility from what we have been told by our financial planner, as Egypt has a fast tanking economy and implements measures to ensure hard currency stays put to further offset inflation and other good reasons to numerous to go into in detail; you get the idea)

. Even something as simple as an iPhone gets taxed by the Egyptian customs at over $1000 EGP!!! (We learned this the hard way when my husband sent his 6 month old IPhone 6 with me back to the USA to be taken to the local Apple Store for warranty replacement-to avoid the costly international shipping and ins charges one way, I in turn, sent it back to him via fed ex and insured only to get hit with the insane customs fees upon arrival) in particular I know that international transfers between persons not related or with no internal ties to one another's countries particularly in high fraud locales, such a transfer is in essence impossible. So I would like to know how this was managed for practical reasons alone!!
