I empathise completely

I feel your pain Ranoosh and identify with everything you said. I am English and sadly an Egyptian man did everything to me that your ex husband did to you! And your words leapt out of the page at me because of that. I too was smart and bubbly, family orientated and a believer in marriage and the good side of people. My family and friends totally loved and supported my ex husband and treated him like the son they never had. He has not only destroyed me but them too: my mother is heartbroken and my father a mixture of anger but incredible sadness and guilt too: he feels he should have seen through him and protected me from the worst pain of my life. It has cost me my sanity, my dignity, confidence and ultimately a great career.

Like yours mine plays the victim card: actually portrays it like I was at fault and damaged him! All the time he has money, a job and a wife lined up for him. I'm trying to heal myself like you and I pray that the day comes that I can find some inner peace instead of turmoil.
