Re: In a relationship with AlgerianReader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men Submitted by Aquarian (Canada), Aug 19, 2016 at 12:50 They will change after. We married in 2012, he arrived in 2014 and just a few months after, when he could not control everything (from how I dresses, how I talked, my mannerisms, my decisions, etc), he became emotionally abusive (look into that abuse in detail and you will see they are almost all like that). It was devastating to see the abrupt change. (FYI He was NEVER like that before; always patient, kind, affectionate, etc, but was jealous though). The more I defended my rights, the more he became distant in all aspects. We mutually ended our marriage this past February. He contacted me, pleading to try again, saying that he knows he has to change and is now willing to. After 5 weeks, he admitted that he just cannot change, needs to have control essentially over everything, has to have everybody "follow" him, and does not want to be a step-father to my kids. He has a love for me, but not the full-on love, the UNconditional love or else he would have fought so much harder in our marriage. He really is just too selfish at this point in his life. He was indeed taught that from this parents (father emotionally and physically abused this family as told by the mother -must of been her way of warning me to tell me this?). If you do not follow their beliefs in basically every area of life, they will "punish" you for it; they will stop making effort, they will stop being affectionate, giving compliments, etc, stop participating in activities with the family/friends. Many are arrogant, selfish. They will justify their actions, even though the justification won't make sense. They are so so sweet, near-perfect people when they need something, and when they have it, they show their real face. Do I regret marrying him? A great part of me wants to say yes! But this experience has shown me so much and actually has helped me mature in certain ways and see my flaws, ironically. So no, I do not regret it. Would I encourage someone to marry one from another country, such as Algeria, Tunisia, Morroco, etc.? NO. It is just too risky. If they want to be with you, they can use their diplomas to apply for residency. Yes it may take at least 3 years but if it is true love, they will do it.
