My dear Francesca,

This sounds like my story, give or take a few details.

I knew my Moroccan for over six years. We both live in the USA and he is a citizen here too. We were friends (I am older) before it turned into a sexual relationship the last two years. We promised that whatever happens, our friendship would not suffer as a result. He supposedly went through some difficult times when he lost his job and I helped him until he was back on his feet.

A few months ago, he said he had to go home to finalize a deal on an apartment and he would be away for a month. I already knew about the apartment so I believed him. I gave him things with which to decorate his new place and anything else he had asked for...luggage, jewellery, stuff for his mom etc. Our relationship was based on honesty and trust, I thought. He would always confirm this and I believed him. Ha! Silly me.

Well, it has been six months and he has not returned, neither has he called me. He has been in touch with his friends here and I was reliably told that he got married the same week he went home. Like you, it is all over Facebook and the congratulations are also there. The bride's page is there too with the sign "Together forever".

Now that the dust has settled, I'm starting to put things in perspective. He was here only to earn money for his bride and wedding. His friends told me that he had saved over one hundred thousand dollars. This is the abridged version of my story.

This was my second relationship with a Muslim. The first one lied so much that I left him.
I have learned that you must NEVER trust or believe these Arab/Muslim men. They are the most charming and convincing liars on the planet. I am now wondering if they do this to Western women only or do they treat their own women like this.
Hopefully an Arab woman can enlighten me on this.

I found great comfort in talking about it with my friends. This website is wonderful and I got a lot of strength from reading these stories. Thanks to you all.

At this point, I am doing great after the initial hurt. The disappointment lingers but that too is on its way out. These types are not worth so much of my time or life. Moving right along.

If you or anyone else would like me to help you through this period, I will gladly do so. Do not worry, cry if you wish, tears are cleansing. Talk about it until you grow tired but I promise, you will be much stronger at the end. This too will pass my dears.
