Dear (Not) Sure,

I was hoping for a response like yours.
You've asked, you've listened, found strength to confront the guy, made smart decisions for yourself, shared your thoughts and showed appreciation to those who care... Thank you!

I see a great potential for you to recover from this situation quickly, with least damage. But you have to stop giving him the opportunity to whisper poison in your ear. Seriously. You sounded much more optimistic before you answered his last call.

You hurt his "pride" by questioning his character and rejecting his calls. He will not let it slip unpunished. Making himself unavailable is his/theirs number one trick. He first tried the oil dealing/desert story. Morocco has no oil (other than argan, olive or hasheesh, haha). But yes, they have wi-fi connection there, and he could have called you. Now he invented a story of being engaged... for a sole purpose of hurting you more! It's a calculated act. You had a dream of meeting him some day and now it's beyond your power to make it happen. It's a game that involves your emotions, he will turn tables soon. Of course, you too could start playing by the rules... Just tell him you received a six figure bonus and you are considering a small investment in Morocco... Yes, you are right, your values are very different. He doesn't care whom you are as long as your wallet is fat. (And that's a given, most moroccans believe money in US grow on trees.) Do not for a second think he gave up on you. Before he does, he will pass on your number to friends and cousins. You need to take action and cut him off, the sooner the better.

It takes an honest person to have some trust in this world. It's ok to be naive at times. Do not allow this little incident influence your confidence. Recognize his actions, move on, save your light for someone who deserves it.
