If this couple emigrated to the U.S. in 1969 . Did they emigrate as a married couple ? If so then They must have registered the wedding . An URFI marriage would have been the equivalent to a common law couple. I understand that an URFI marriage may be witnessed but is not registered or celebrated by the Brides guardian and family of bride and groom .

Probably in 1969 it was a marriage of custom in the countryside where the persons could not afford a traditional wedding . Egypt changed the rules on URFI divorce. Women can now divorce their husbands . Prior to the law changing only the man could divorce by tearing up the 2 URFI contracts . There is a paternity case in Egypt 2006 Al Feshawy v Al Hinnawy .
