Not Out of the Woods YetReader comment on item: Advice to Non-Muslim Women against Marrying Muslim Men Submitted by Straight_Talk_Luigi (United States), Feb 28, 2015 at 00:42 Amy: If this marriage is so great, that would of course include you feeling completely secure about everything, please tell us why you are looking up this kind of information and taking the time to post on here. It seems to me that given some of the major red flags (agreeing to marry before meeting, for one) could still be a source of doubt for you. I'm not mocking you here, either, Amy, because you SHOULD feel that way. So we went lots of rounds about that, but little bit by little bit I cut every tie with my ex. It needed to be done, and I knew that all along. My fear is what kept getting in the way, to the point where I even lied about conversations I had with my ex or things I said to him. My husband, given the circumstances, had every reason to walk away and free himself from that drama, but he didn't. Some example of a horrible Egyptian man, hm You're not looking at the other side of the coin, Amy. So why didn't he walk away? Was it because he had something to gain, like a VISA? Do you think a great guy would stick around while you and your ex hash out day after day, or do you suppose he'd leave for a better prospect? If your husband had posted on here asking me for advice that the girl he was seeing was wrapped up in arguments and what-not with her ex, I would probably tell him to move on. It is very concerning, Amy, not only that this drama occurred but also that he was okay with it to the seemingly bitter end. I don't see that situation as complimentary. Other relationships described here are such that one or both in the couple are making themselves the higher priority. They are not truly living for something greater. They are not trying to fulfill their purpose by God in this life. No relationship- not between two Christians, two Muslims, two easterners, two westerners, or any other mix of people- will ever succeed in the long term if people are not submitting to a master plan that was pefectly chosen for them by the One Who made all. It actually doesn't even get down to the cultural differences that much on here, Amy, becasue the "relationships" in many cases are about money and/or VISA scams. A scammer and a theif isn't interested in culture, only the validity of paperwork and fatness of a wallet, respecitvely. I find your overall message problematic, Amy. I think things are not as rosy as you say they are. I do not like suggesting leaving him right now given what you have said; however, you owe it at least to yourself to discern whether or not this marriage could be a fraud and to go from there. The red flags are there, Amy, and the fact that you are Muslim may make it easier for a liar or scammer, but in the end, I'm not so sure that would be enough to keep one around if that is the case, and it could very well be. At the very least, Amy, I think you've got your doubts. You rushed into this head-first and I don't think you've been married very long. This all sounds recent to me, and you need to ask yourself if as you wrote your post that you are trying to sell yourself as much as you are with us, and why you even care what we think. As far as God goes, well, I'm not on here to debate private relevation. But I do think there's a problem if you feel you have to stay with someone problematic (or who is a liar/ VISA scammer) because somehow you think it's God's will. I'd be VERY careful here, Amy, because this is not a trifle matter, and I do not think God would approve of you using Him as an excuse to be in a relationship of any sort that is bad.
