1. I'm happily married to an Egyptian man and I'm an extremely hyper, snarky, sarcastic american girl (with class an manners however).

2. I know many woman of western culture who are insanely happy with their Egyptian husbands.

I think your situation was unique, and it sucks that you went through that (if you aren't making this up...I get the feeling you are for some reason...just something in the "tone" of the forum post). I would suggest to anyone, get to know them well before you marry. But yes, this fell on deaf ears. He comes from a very small town in the Northern portion of the region and I come from a small town in Kentucky. We were both raised with the same morals and values even though the cultures are pretty different. We have almost everything in common. I think before generalizing and terrifying people who are about to walk away from their true love, don't be a jerk. Take into consideration that your situation isn't the same as others. And by the way, I have NEVER had a bad experience in egypt. Not with one single human being there. If anything I was embraced by everyone even his family...who at first questioned my motives considering their son (this Egyptian whos cuture you are demonizing) married an insane woman from North America and she was horrid to him. After getting to know me they realized their son finally made the right choice. Thank God he didn't consider all women from America do be like his ex wife. That would be a little racist wouldn't it? *hint*
