Egyptian Law- foreign women

Hi. I am seeing an Egyptian guy, and have so far been respectful of the pre-martial sex law.

Your comment does say that it is illegal for a foreign woman to be alone with an Egyptian man anywhere in Egypt- does this include cafes/bars etc- open public places or is it just referring to private situtations like apartments and hotel rooms?

If two people are caught together without an orfi, what are the consequences, realistically, for both parties.

I have also met his friends at a cafe. Can you confirm what the law states about foreign woman being friends with Egyptian men. I would like to invite my friend and his friends over for something to eat and drink when I am next in Egypt, but I do not know where I stand on this. If there is no sexual intent is it okay? If you have a group of people is that better than having one person visit.

I do believe that marriage is a sacred institution and I do feel, that the law forces people down a route of watered down marriage by requiring an orfi for two people to spend quality time together (I do not necessarily mean to have sex).

I do not know if it makes a difference, but my friend is not Muslim.
