Dynamic with Second and Third World Women is Similar

Perhaps the same reason American men travel to Russia to find a wife, they have no self esteem, old or not very attractive?

You pretty much got it right. The dynamic is similar with older men in places like the USA, UK, Canada ect. who are 50-60 thinking that a girl from Russia, Asia Brazil or wherever in her 20s is always interested in real love.

I actually dabbled in some of that after high school because of some of the reasons you stated. Obviously, I wasn't old and balding and much closer in age to some of these women, but I had the whole (to quote a friend of mine)"self-"pity party" , the I never get the girl mentality, yeah, it makes you vulnerable to that. Ultimately, I concluded it wasn't worth the effort---I didn't have the money anyways. That alone probably stops a lot of people, but for the men who do have the time and money-----yeah, they can be in for a real ride.

I had a woman from Russia once pretend to live in a small town near me (this actually was quite common for them to do) and told me she loved me in the second or third e-mail when all she saw of me was a pic that was old.

In one case, an American man married a Russian woman, went out of his way for her---he got her cultural contacts with the Russian community in his city----and after three years of marriage, she got her citizenship, drivers license ect and bolted.

That's the risk you run.

In general we are used to seeing much older men with younger as not horribly unusual, but throw in the culturual differences, the VISA scams, and the usual pools of lies and deceit and the relationship just not working out for whatever reason-----it's a small footnote.

I have observed that with the notable exception of Craigslist, on-line dating for men is just as dangerous if not even more than when women do it.

If you read through this (and there's a lot on here) you'll notice that most of the women are divorced or have been living with a guy for years who won't commit, or are young/inexperienced.

That's no coincidence.

These groups are probably the most vulnerable and it's not surprising to me that they would turn to the internet to find love. The internet presents on the surface an easy solution to this problem, but again, a lot of people who use on-line dating----especially those inclined to meet someone on social networking or an on-line chat service like AIM or Skype----either have a mental or social problem or may not be in the best frame of mind for a healthy relationship.

A big reason why this continues is because people, especially women, shun their better instincts and make excuses and give free passes that they would never give to a balding, overweight peer of the same nationality, religion and/or race.

As a guy, let me tell you that men who do that are in many cases are looking for sex first, and maybe as the only thing.
