He is a jerk, but you did some mistakes

First, I am very very sorry for your suffering.

I would like to tell you that you can not generalize your subjective point of view. I am sure that there are others who live very happy and are enjoying their life.

I think you made a big mistake and you didnt spend enough time to know his personality, and while he was showing off with the boat and the bla bla stuff. How could you not see that he is not the owner? I think you were blinded by him and you couldnt judge from an objective view.

And when you discovered that he is liar, why you didnt leave him at once? Honesty is one of the pillars of a successful marriage, and if your marriage or relationship was built on a lie, you have the right to leave him.

Did he put you in prison? or you could walk around? Did you try to call your embassy and flee from him??

I am sorry to say that he is a jerk, but you did a lot of mistakes and you allowed yourself to be treated like that.
