Islam is a Way of life

I found this blog doing a google search trying to understand some behavior of the Algerian Muslim man i dated at the time. Fast forward 5 years later. He is no longer in my life as of 6 months ago. The same doubts and questions still were there and i just finally cut the ties. The continued disappointments were not worth it. Religion is #1, Family/blood relatives are extremely important #2 and male friends #3 Which left me at #4.. I found myself often feeling disappointed and alone at Easter, Christmas & Birthdays.

Although he tried and I do think he cared for me, you cant change decades of indoctrination of Male Superiority, okay to lie to infidels and women are for mans enjoyment(yes I heard this and should have ran) which is a result of the strict religious upbringing many Algerians have. Your children absolutely will be raised Muslim.

I am not bashing the Islam religion by no means. The way my Algerian put it, Islam is not only the religion, its a way of life. The law of the country. Familiarize yourself and understand it. He will try to convert you the longer you are together. If you are not in agreement with the way of life Islam teaches , spare yourself the pain, and move on. We had many discussions regarding Christianity and Islam.

But toward the end his persistence in trying to convert me, ended up turning into an argument as I had no intent of converting and tired of hearing his famous line - would you send your children to die on the cross?? Do you think God would really send his Son to be nailed to the cross. Hearing that at Christmas - was the icing on the cake, because if he really respected my beliefs and my way of life, he would not have said it on Christmas. Keep your eyes opened and listen to your gut. You are here for a reason. Good Luck!
