Thanks for your straight-forward advice. Turns out that I stopped talking to him at the beginning of October 2012 when he started acting like a dominant male. He accused me of "not listening to him" and disobeying him; this gave me true insight into what I was getting myself in to. Even though he claimed that he was open minded, some Islamic men just don't view women in a "western" manner and I believed that I would end up in an abusive relationship. Therefore he is out of my life and I have not heard anything from him. I guess he wanted a ticket to Canada more than he wanted me!
